Summer may technically be over but it still feels like it here in Houston (and it will for at least another month ;-). We know we’ve been teasing this for a while via our Instagram, so here it is! A few of our favorite shots from the “Revival of Gucci” a.k.a “Liberation” photo/video shoot conceived and produced this summer by Hues of a Man, Kidd Ford, and their amazingly talented team of creatives. We loved this idea so much we had to ask Creative Director, Eric Ford, all about it. Find out what he had to say below.
How did this idea come about and what inspired it? “Hues of Man, Ralph, came to me about collaborating on a creative shoot regarding Gucci, early May. We have been wanting to work with each other for a while, so this sounded like the perfect time to start.
He came to me about being Creative Director for the shoot and wanted me to design a particular theme that we could tie into the newest resort collection for Gucci. I came up with the idea Liberation or “Revival.” It was based off the fashion films I’d studied by Gucci, which expressed a new youthful tone that embraced individuality and being free from social norms. The theme for our particular project soon spoke that same voice.
During the 70’s boys used to leave the house, head to the arcade, play stickball, ride skateboards, eat candy, and of course, check out girls. We just amped it up with a cool Gucci inspired fashion twist.
I was able to deliver a great synopsis of the storyline that allowed our visual’s production team, who are really great friends of mine, to deliver an awesome fashion film and photo story, and Ralph was able to bring along his favorite Gucci pieces to style the models. We were also able to collaborate with Big Ass Balloons and Lush Puff, which gave our story an added edge and some needed eye candy for the guys.
The Gucci Liberation Shoot was one that was truly needed and I was happy to a part of a project that could not only put Houston on the map but also show The Gucci Corporation that Houston has some true fashion talent.”
